The Hustle: What’s Getting in the Way of Sustainability and Innovation in Our Organizations

The ability to solve our community's challenges and make an impact hinges on two things, talent retention and innovation. And yet, year after year, nonprofit organizations face vacancies in key leadership positions. What is the reason for this common challenge? Could the passion and deep commitment of mission-driven leaders, met with the urgency of "now more than ever," lead to a culture of hustle, perfectionism, and accelerated burnout? Could it be that our culture of high expectations doesn't lend itself to the level of safety required for risk-taking and innovation? In this session, participants explore what's behind the hustle and what individuals can do (at every level of the organization) to create an anti-hustle culture where our talent feels safe to stay, innovate, and work towards impact in more a sustainable way.

Ideal Audience: Nonprofit Leaders, Educators, Entrepreneurs, Business Leaders

“Her session far exceeded our expectations. She was open, honest and offered our attendees a framework for looking at their own work culture with a critical lens for purposes of improving future impact. The sign of a good breakout session is that people are still talking about it in the hallway and at lunch, this session was the talk of several tables, and the only disappointment was that it was not recorded!”

— Kristen Schlatre, Director, Center for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership at Rice University

The Gift: A Call to Courage for Educators

As educators, we've been entrusted with the most beautiful gift: the opportunity to help raise confident, wholehearted children. No other group, save parents, has a greater responsibility. How do we make good on our promise to children? By focusing on being whole leaders who are brave with our lives, our teachers and children can do the same.

This keynote often serves as an introduction to the Dare to Lead™ training.

Ideal Audience: Educators

“We provide services for early learning educators and reached out to Aisha to present at our annual conference. Aisha was able to present an empowering keynote on being a courageous leader to over a hundred childcare providers which we were able to interpret into 5 additional languages.”

— Winnie Cheung, Training Manager at Child Care Resource and Referral of Multnomah County in Oregon
